Sequels have been awfully good to the actor Will Smith. Men in Black and Bad Boys both spawned sequels that might not have been critically acclaimed, but they did earned the Oscar nominee a hefty paycheck. It appears that he is going back to the well for two films that he recently starred in for even more sequels.
First, it was annouced that Smith was considering a sequel to his superheroic film, Hancock. It’s terrific performance at the box office makes it almost no surprise that Hollywood would consider a sequel, but is it a film that deserves or requires a sequel? Many clamored for a Men in Black sequel and somehow Smith and Tommy Lee Jones made the sequel work. Despite mixed reviews, Hancock could offer rich ground of the actor to bring to a sequel.
The other recent movie that Smith is considering for a sequel is the end of the world epic, I Am Legend. More like the Bad Boy sequel, this movie and its ending in particular do not beg for a sequel. The rumored idea would look at his character before the first movie. Could it work? Will Smith, with his eye for quality, would surely not make a film just for the box office. Hopefully, it would somehow work as a sequel.
